Celia…| Northern Virginia Photographer|

Meet Celia…a beautiful, talented young lady that I had the chance to get to know. She has an amazing voice, along with a quirky side that’s hard not to love. I am inspired by her and wish her the best of luck in the future. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to visit her at any of her live shows in Northern Virginia. She plays every Sunday night from 6pm-8pm at Manhattan Pizzaria in Ashburn, Virginia, and assorted coffee house gigs throughout the year. You can hear some of the songs from her newest CD HERE .
In her words…
Who is Celia?
an easily amused, peaceful folk-punk-rocker/octopus enthusiast/thrift store junkie. She loves vintage bicycles, words, good people, small spaces, and wishes she drank tea. She has always been kind of a morbid kid and is fascinated by Edgar Allen Poe, Edward Gorey, and the paranormal.
Describe your style?
I live for secondhand clothing and the rush of finding something nobody else will ever have. I wear what my mom wore when she was my age–leather fringed vests, patterned dresses, necklaces with bells on them (a lot of it is actually hers!). I love DIY clothing and I don’t believe you should pay inordinate amounts of money for something you could make yourself. I would describe my style as natural, neo-hippie, and completely unhindered by trends.

What do you love about singing and writing music?
Singing is pure, primitive joy and emotion. You can convey mixed emotions far more easily through a song than spoken words. I love writing music because sometimes I write the songs, sometimes they write themselves, and sometimes they write me. There’s a lyric from two awesome Scottish chicks who call themselves The Heathers–”Misery sure makes you wanna play guitar and sing.” Writing is cathartic. I write mostly out of heartbreak and mostly in magic marker.
What are your dreams?
As for the future, my dream is to one day own a VW Microbus and be a public high school drama teacher. I also a big advocate of loving yourself no matter what you look like and feeling happy and beautiful at any weight. So, I dream that one day, no little girl will look in the mirror and find any reason that she’s “not pretty enough.”
An of course, where can we get a CD?
Oh, geez. Well, you can’t buy it online, yet. I’m old school and technologically impaired. So visit me on Sundays from 6pm-8pm at Manhattan Pizzeria in Ashburn, Virginia and pick one up!
It was great to hang out with you at the cutest little book store and hear you sing again. Good luck and I’ll see you on Sundays this spring!

What a beautiful and cool kid!! Thanks for posting this!
WOW!!! What a fantastic profile!
